Oh my gosh, you guys, HI! I haven't been on here in a week! It feels like FOREVER!
Well...I worked out today :) It was so much fun! My sister, my dad, and I went biking along a beautiful trail near our house. We went for about an hour and a half, and it was really hot today so it was a good workout! I was exhausted by the end!
I haven't been shopping since my last check-in about a week ago...my mom isn't feeling too well right now so I'm crossing my fingers she gets better! We'll be shopping around after she recovers.
Thanks, guys, for being patient with me! I'm so sorry for not posting! Send my blog link along to your female friends + family and I PROMISE I will keep posting...
If you have any tutorials, requests, anything you want me to do, just leave me a comment on THIS post letting me know what you'd like to see. I would love to talk to you guys!
much love...xoxox

Shopping today at Kohl's and Target
Hello ladies!
So I went shopping today at Kohl's and Target, but I was pretty unsuccessful, sadly. A lot of the Candie's stuff at Kohl's looked amazing and so cute, but I didn't have time to stop by and check because we arrived there an hour before closing (my mom was really busy earlier today, so we went really late). I had to check out swimwear and I got two sports bras and I was trying to figure out my bra size and all...so that took up time.
I didn't get anything at Target. What a bummer. :(
Anyway...just wanted to let yall know. I would love to talk to you guys! Please leave comments if you stop by! I would love to know what you think - what kinds of posts you want, if you like the layout, even if you hate me just leave a comment....anything (hateful or supportive or anything in between) is welcome!
I'll keep bloggin' -

JCPenney Haul! :)
Hey girls!
You know I love you ALL very, very much.... :) and so I of COURSE had to update you guys on my purchases today at JCPenney. The new Forever 21 opened up right next to JCP TODAY! But I didn't actually stop there - gasp, I know - because I was kind of in a hurry and it looked pretty crowded and I didn't have the patience (or time) to stop there and wait in lines and all that jazz.
I will DEFINITELY be paying a visit to F21 later this month or early next month, though, to stock up on some summer/fall clothes!
Anyway...what I bought TODAY:
-A fun blue, green, and pink floral top - it's pretty chiffon-y and sweet, with little smock details around the edges. So adorable!
-A cream peasant top. Been wanting one of these for ages! It's gorgeous!!!! I am so in love with it!
-A big (LONG) bikini cover-up. I don't actually wear bikinis (have never liked them on myself, I don't like wearing such skimpy clothes), but I thought it would be cool to wear over a one-piece or really anything, and it's kind of a boho-chic eyelet-design feel and it's really sweet. It's big and loose and I could see myself wearing it honestly anywhere, even to like school. So that's a cute piece.
-A white Grecian dress. This dress is the height of awesome. It makes me look a bit wide, I think, but I want it to last a long time. It's cotton and it goes to just around my knee. It has a sweet little flat ruffle around the neck, and there's like a thin coil around the waist area to give it that boho-chic look. I bought a thin black/brown reversible belt to tie around the waist to cinch it up a bit and make it less boxy and awkward.
-A swimsuit. So this is a super awkward one, because one-pieces that fit are so hard to come by! It's a one-piece that has like a dress/skirt thing over the waist area. It's kind of weird, but I took it anyway. I'm going to keep searching, though, to see if I can find a tried 'n' true, form-fitting swimsuit, but if I absolutely can't, this is my last resort. It fits fine and all, it's black with pink and yellow and orange flowers.
-A pair of sunglasses. This, I am so excited about! It's big and round with thin sides. It's this leopard-print kind of pattern around the rim, and the insides are a very chic shade of shimmery green. They look so cool!! I am head over heels in love with these. They're kind of similar to what Lauren Conrad was wearing at Heidi and Spencer's wedding -- that pair was actually what inspired my purchase of these. I really wanted a pair like Lauren's.
And that's it, you guys! We are going on vacay next month to somewhere very hot and summery and beachy, so I want super fun, flowy, loose summer clothes. Will be making a Forever 21 pit stop soon + a stop at the hair salon! Plus I'm painting my nails soon! Eeeeek!! So excited!!! :)
I love you all. From the bottom of my heart. Thank you guys for reading and you're the best :)
Much love,

Workout Journal #8
Hey guys.
I worked out for half an hour on the 15th, I did a fifteen minute run and then fifteen minutes of warm-up/cool down walking. That was great. I was still tired even an hour after I finished it. So that was a productive + effective workout.
I love W-Journaling because it motivates and forces me to work out, so I don't feel bad about having a dry spell in journals. And I can talk to you guys about it! Not that that stopped me from letting my body sit dormant on the workout front for almost a week! Aaaahhh. It's been too long and I hate it! I feel so fat and unfit...I've just been super busy because I am planning a VACATION!!! But I can't tell you guys to where until it's all confirmed and we're leaving...just for privacy issues, you know?
This is a super late Workout Journal, LOL. Sorry about that, guys!
Love! xoxox

What to eat and avoid when you've got acne
Hello dolls!
It's been far too long since I've worked out -- it's driving me insane! I'll do it tomorrow for sure. I've also been super lazy to wash my hair, so my body's been heating up and resulting in lots of hair fall and an outbreak of zits. It's not pretty...aah. No amount of makeup conceals it, you guys.
Anyway, that inspired me to do this post on how to manage your diet when you have acne...so that your acne/zits go away!
EAT COOLING FOODS. Acne and zits form because your body is heating up. Counteract the heat and lower your body temp by eating cooling foods, like cucumbers, watermelon, summer squash, cilantro, coconut, and aloe vera.
AVOID DAIRY. Dairy contains the perfect hormones to make your acne worse. Avoid dairy at all costs unless it's a do-or-die situation.
AVOID HEATING FOODS. These are foods like mangoes, pepper, potatoes, ginger, garlic, and root vegetables (ones grown below ground).
DON'T TOUCH IT. The oils on your hand will only make zits or acne worse, so as tempting as it is, don't touch them!
Here's a good exfoliating procedure that you can do at home that will help cool down your body (great for hot summer days, too). Do this just before you wash your hair.
Heat up one to two cups of virgin olive oil (or extra virgin) in a pan. Do not let this boil, but it should be hot. Remove it from the stove when it is hot and carry it to your bathroom (take a coaster with you). Strip all your clothes off QUICKLY because you don't want the oil to cool down while you are taking off your clothes. Now, apply the olive oil liberally all over your body. Massage it into your skin and rub it all over thoroughly. Make sure you use up all the oil. Make sure you also rub it into your hair and scalp. Now, go ahead and wash your hair and shower. Take a regular bath -- the oil will have soaked in just as you rubbed it in, so don't worry about lurking around to wait for the oil to sink in.
If you do this, this should help your body cool down. It has worked for me on multiple occasions, so I'd recommend it!
IF YOU ARE FREAKING OUT about a zit and it's the night before a big party/event/date/something major...HERE'S AN OVERNIGHT QUICK FIX! Take a dab of toothpaste and rub it on the zit in small circles, making sure you really get the paste in there and on top of the zit. Leave it on overnight and the next morning it should be gone or will have significantly subsided. Don't do this too much, though, because your body will get used to it and it won't work as well anymore (it won't really subside very much overnight if you do it too often). It's best not to wash off the toothpaste the following morning, just to ensure that your zit stays down (if you get the toothpaste off, the zit is re-exposed to the elements and will bubble up again), but just apply your foundation or moisturizing cream over it as if there's nothing wrong. This is sometimes just a temporary fix and the zit can sometimes just pop up again the next day, so be warned.
Hope you guys are having a great summer! Will do a workout journal tomorrow! Love you all! xoxox

Demi Lovato's "Skyscraper"
Anyone who knows me knows I'm a huge fan of Demi Lovato. When I heard about her new single, "Skyscraper," I just HAD to listen to it. I saw the music video today and it's seriously just been on constant replay. I absolutely adore her and her song and her video and she's just absolute perfection in every way.
This song is really personal and inspiring to me. I've been bullied in school before, and I've cut myself many a time. I don't cut myself with knives or sharp weapons but rather with my fingers. I scratch myself until I'm full-on bleeding and self-inflicting pain. I have had so many days where I just want to die, where my confidence and happiness and just me as a person has hit rock bottom and I don't want to do anything else because I feel like the lowest person in the world. I've had those days. They're, unfortunately, really common.
You guys know that I've always been very conscious about my body. I have hated my body and really have not been confident in my skin, and it's just difficult for me.
So to hear this song was just a blessing. Thank God for Demi Lovato. She's inspired me and pushed me to just be stronger and be a better person, and she is my role model, hero, inspiration, and idol. I am so proud of her and I'm proud to be a diehard Lovatic. This song perfectly represents my life, and it will continue to inspire me to rise like a skyscraper throughout my life.
God bless you, Demi, and thank you for this song. I'm brought to tears by it. It's so moving and so real and honest and raw and personal to me, and I can relate to it a million percent.

Workout Journals #6 and #7
Hellooooo my friends!
I have been super behind on my Workout Journals, hahaha. Sorry about that! I've just been doing 20 minutes of treadmill work, squeezing it in wherever and whenever I can :) When I do 20 minute workouts (which I'm liking more and more; they're more intense and I can work out for less time) I basically warm up by slow to fast walking for 5 minutes, then I run for 10 minutes, then I cool down for 5 minutes, sometimes I walk fast near the end to get my heart rate going again. It's good fun!
Anyway, just thought I would pop in and let y'all know about those 2 workouts. I'm trying to do them at least every other day. I've lost a lot of stomach flab! It's really exciting!
Much love,

Organizing Your Closet
Hey girls and guys!
I have been doing a ton of closet and bedroom reorganization today, so I just wanted to share with you all some tips on how to organize your closet.
If you follow this process, you'll be good to go!
I have been doing a ton of closet and bedroom reorganization today, so I just wanted to share with you all some tips on how to organize your closet.
If you follow this process, you'll be good to go!
- Make a list of your top 10 favorite pieces. These can be your most-worn pieces, pieces that just make you feel good, pieces that are your favorite color or print, anything. But these have to be your top 10 FAVORITES. You will keep these pieces regardless of anything else that happens. KEEP THESE.
- Organize your closet based on the type of piece. Put camis and tank tops in one pile, long-sleeved shirts in one, short sleeved shirts in one, quarter-length shirts in one, jeans in one, sweats in one, sweatshirts and hoodies in one, blouses in one, shoes in one, bags in one, scarves in one, jewelry in one, and basically just categorize everything.
- In each pile, find out which ones are too small for you. These ones you can donate to the Salvation Army or any other place that allows you to donate too-small clothes. Keep the rest.
- Now, organize each pile by color. The way I do it is by rainbow order (ROYGBIV) for tops, shoes, bags, sweats, and sweatshirts/hoodies/sweaters/cardigans, and for jeans I organize them from light denim to dark denim.
- Now, hang up each section, making sure to leave a division between each section. This division can just be empty space, or you can use drawers or partitions, depending on the size of your closet.
- For jewelry, you can either put it into a jewelry box and on a shelf in your closet, OR if you want to be creative and fun about it, you can take a hanger (preferably wooden, if you want to be stylish), hang a thin drapey cloth through it, and poke your earrings and necklaces through the fabric because it's so thin.
And there you go! That's all you have to do to organize your closet. So easy.
Have fun reorganizing! And if you need any tips, help, etc...just leave me a comment!

Update on Makeup
Hello everyone,
So I realized that the reason for my itchy skin was not actually just the fact that I was using makeup, but it was because I was using outdated cosmetics. I didn't realize that I had to throw out makeup after a certain amount of time...oops!
I've started using new makeup (or newer makeup) now, and it doesn't bother my skin. However, I don't have very many cosmetics, and I don't really want to spend my money on them, so I might use an outdated eyeshadow or something very rarely.
Just thought I would let you guys know that I'm (sort of) back on the makeup train. If you guys know of any cheap, affordable makeup that is less than $10 that I could pick up (I don't want to spend much money on makeup, because it's not very important to me), then leave that in the comments and I might go ahead and get that, just for days when I feel like dolling up.
Have a great day!

Workout Journal #5
Hey everyone!
I just worked out for a half hour on the treadmill after posting about the new look. It's a gorgeous day out but I really don't have the time to go biking or running outside, it's much easier to just do it indoors.
Here's how I organized the intensity of my workout:
5 minutes of warm-up
9 minutes of running
5 minutes of slower walking
9 minutes of running
2 minutes of cool down
It wasn't the most fun thing to do, but it got the job done, and I feel really great. It's necessary to give yourself little cool-down breaks in between your hardcore running.
After working out (about 5 minutes after I was done), I had lunch as a post-workout meal. I made sure to eat pretty healthy.
Have a lovely day -

Which Curling Iron...
Hey guys,
I know it can be tough to find the right curling iron among all the different brands promoting their own. And you're never really sure which curling iron will give you the look you're looking for -- plus, when some looks require a 1" barrel and others require a 2" barrel, you don't know what to do.
Here's what I did.
I went to Target and bought a simple Conair 1 1/2" barrel curling iron. Why did I buy the 1 1/2 inch barrel? Because I can adapt it for a look that requires a 1" barrel and for a look that requires a 2" barrel. Of course, the curls won't turn out EXACTLY the way the tutorial requires, but they'll be close enough. Also, it's not practical for me (or really, for anyone) to buy 3 different curling irons (1", 1.5", and 2") just because some days you want a different look. A 1.5" is the happy medium that you can use to give yourself all 3 looks for the price of 1.
Here is the curling iron I bought: http://www.conair-beauty-products.com/conair_112inc_cerami__40.html It was only about $20, which is a pretty good price. I've only had it for about a year, but it's worked great. It's not as bad for your hair because it is tourmaline ceramic, and it does a wonderful job curling my hair. I've been really pleased with it.
It doesn't pull your hair, and it doesn't frizz your hair either -- both were major concerns of mine when I was shopping for a curling iron. Plus, it heats up in 30 seconds, unlike other brands that take FOREVER to heat up.
Here is the official link on the Conair site for this iron: http://www.conair.com/tourmaline-ceramic-1-inch-curling-iron-p-905-1_73_10.html. It's $28 on there. I would not recommend buying it off the site because it's so expensive -- you can get it for almost ten dollars less at Target or Wal-Mart.
So there you go! I use this for all kinds of curls and it works great, plus it's easy to use and durable. Hope that helped! You can leave me the name of any curling iron (or a link to it) in the comments and I'll try to get back to you on what I think of that curling iron :)

Friendship
Hey all.
I am having a rocky time right now with my friendship with a specific girl I know. I am actually really offended by something she did to me. I've felt, for a while now, that she doesn't really like me and doesn't want to be friends with me, and that she's just trying to be nice but doesn't think much of me. I think she thinks I'm annoying.
Let me tell you about her. She's the popular girl, the gorgeous one who doesn't do well in school, the social one. If you're friends with her, it just elevates your social status. She has this "I'm nice to everyone and everyone's nice to me" attitude, but I know some girls who trash talk her behind her back.
I really wanted to be friends with her, because she was beautiful and liked Harry Potter like me and seemed friendly enough. We were going to go to Forever 21 together, but then she kept saying her mom broke her back and she couldn't make it and all this jazz.
I was disappointed, obviously, but I thought there would be more opportunities for us to become friends. Then, the other day, I asked her if I could go with her to the Harry Potter midnight premiere, so we could build on our common ground of liking Harry Potter. She said no, that her whole family was going and that her dad wanted to keep it a "family thing." I thought, Okay, maybe her dad is a Potterhead too, and I'll respect that.
Then today, I logged onto Facebook. She had written on one of her closer friends' walls (and I've switched out their names here) the following --
"JANE: Can I go with you to the Harry Potter midnight premiere?
JESSICA: *buys ticket immediately* YES!
I CANT WAIT TO GO WITH YOU!!!!"
Okay. WHAT?! I was naturally offended. I understand I'm not her closest friend, but to LIE to me and blame it on her dad? I wouldn't even be hurt if she'd said the truth, that she didn't know me well and didn't want to go with me. I would understand that. But I'm more hurt that she tried to lie to cover up the truth and blatantly went out there and announced that she was going to the premiere with one of her closer friends.
I'm honestly just so hurt and offended and I feel used. All that time I spent admiring her...it's gone to waste. My respect for her has plummeted to zero.
I'm just going to keep living by my own motto: Keep it classy.
Sad, but learning about life -
Much love...

Super delayed Workout Journal #4
Hey guys!
I am so so so so so SO sorry for not doing this Workout Journal earlier! I was just super busy afterwards and haven't gotten a chance to do it until now.
So I worked out on July 4th. Just before we went out for fireworks, I did a half hour stint on the treadmill. It was great! I burned about 170 fat calories, I think. It felt awesome.
It wasn't one of those spiced-up workouts, but I didn't really mind. I was thinking and mulling over a bunch of things in my life on that day, so I wasn't really even thinking much while I was running on it. I definitely slowed down the tempo a little bit twice to give myself three to five minute breaks in between running bits, but I kept moving for thirty minutes straight.
I'm so happy with my fitness level! I was taking a class Tuesday, Wednesday, and today, and I'm out until Monday, so I'll definitely work out today and hopefully every day this weekend. Hope I get my lazy butt off the chair and onto the treadmill, LOL! It's raining, so I can't even go for a bike ride if I'd like.
Anyway, I hope you all are having a lovely lovely summer. Miss talking to you all bunches! Comment, my lovelies!

Workout Journal #3 :)
Hey guys!
So I just went and worked out for an HOUR! :) It was really great. I love this new fitness kick I'm on...it really feels great! I'm glad I became motivated to do this, because it feels amazing not only mentally but also physically! I can't wait to see some results in flab loss :)
I made my workout super fun by biking with my dad again. We took a route down the hill that our house is on, and then we went along a river trail. It's a beautiful sunny day out, there were tons of plants and lots of bikers and pedestrians, and the river was gorgeous!!! I absolutely loved it! The scenery was incredible, and the people were just so sweet :) So it was a ton of fun to go biking along there! And then coming up the hill back home was AWFUL. It hurt so much! We ended up just walking our bikes up the hill, it was so bad.
I made a grave mistake though -- I didn't eat a very solid breakfast. Eeek!!! I just had a couple of squares of cantaloupe and then a slice of bread with a light covering of strawberry jam. And I didn't take a water bottle either, so I was like hungry, energy-deficient, and dehydrated, plus it's hot outside. That was the downside of my trip -- I wasn't too energized by the middle of it :( But I guess that happens to everyone...you just get tired. Although I think if I had had a good breakfast I would've had more energy.
Anyway, just wanted to share that with you :) My post workout food was lunch! I just finished lunch and came up here to blog about it. For lunch I had okra (not fried, that would be really bad!), yoghurt (unflavored), spinach, and brown rice. I know it's an odd combination but it was really good (I ate some of the things separately, obviously - like I didn't eat the okra and the yoghurt together, LOL).
And then I drank TONS of water when I came home!!! I think I drank 4 - 5 cups of it :) I was so thirsty and tired! Maybe I'll catch some Zzzz's now just to relax, I don't really know yet.
So this is a great way to have some fun and work out at the same time, so it doesn't feel like a workout. My dad and I chatted during the ride, which made it pretty enjoyable and fun :) And it's a great social way to hang with friends or have some QT with family.
I think later today I'll go play tennis with my dad (he's just so awesome, period.) and badminton with my mom. Both of them said yes to it, but we'll see :)
Hope you guys are having a lovely, lovely Fourth of July weekend, and I'll catch up later today with my Workout Journal #4 (hopefully!).
Much love -

Happy July! + Workout Journal #2
Hey guys,
It's already July! Can you believe that?!?!!? June went by so fast, and once this month is over it will be just a couple of weeks till SCHOOL again. Wow!
Hope you guys enjoy your Fourth of July weekend! It's gonna be a good one, but only if you make it that way :)
So I just worked out and I feel like I'm stuck to my shirt! However it didn't feel like a workout--it was soooo much fun!!!! I did a bunch of games on the Xbox Kinect, which was a great way to get in exercise but not feel like you're just working out. This is another way to work out but have it be a FUN workout. :) I'm really enjoying working out in a fun way and not really thinking about how I'm getting all the sweat out, but rather just enjoying what I'm doing!
What are some of your fave ways to spice up a workout? :)
